ACEC, its member firms, and state Member Organizations marked Engineers Week 2025 with a range of activities inspired by this year’s theme, Design Your Future—a celebration of engineering’s boundless potential and a call to innovate for a better tomorrow. Roadshow on the Hill
ACEC partnered with APWA and ASCE—its Engineering and Public Works Roadshow collaborators—to host an open house for congressional staff. More than 100 staffers from various offices attended, engaging with the team and collecting resources, including the latest economic research from the ACEC Research Institute. Keith Foxx of DC-area member firm FoxxStem was also present, offering insights and answering questions from an industry perspective. View event photos here.

ACEC Hawaii Kicks Off E-Week at STEM Event
The Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies (HCES), representing 17 major engineering groups, hosted its annual Engineers Week Kick-Off Exhibit at Windward Mall in Kaneohe. Featuring booths from professional societies, government agencies, and engineering firms, the event engaged the public with STEM-focused displays and activities. ACEC Hawaii participated with giveaways, treats, and hands-on STEM fun. ACEC Hawaii member firms on the Big Island also visited high schools to discuss engineering careers.

E-Week concluded with the HCES Engineers Week Awards Ceremony honoring outstanding achievements across various engineering disciplines. This year’s honorees: Dr. Janice Marsters – 2025 HCES Lifetime Achievement Award; Dr. Glenn Miyasato – 2025 Engineer of the Year; Ms. Alicia Suzuki – 2025 Young Engineer of the Year; and Mr. Travis Nitta – 2025 Student Engineer of the Year. ACEC Nebraska Hosts a Legislative Day
ACEC Nebraska hosted a Legislative Day and Reception in Lincoln, offering attendees a firsthand look at the state legislature, meetings with officials, lunch at the Governor’s residence, and a closing cocktail reception.

ACEC/MN Conducts Student Outreach Activities
ACEC/MN celebrated E-week with two events led by its charitable arm, the Engineering Education Foundation of America (EEFA). EEFA taskforces, composed of ACEC/MN firm members, conducted targeted outreach: the K–12 group visited local schools for STEM presentations and activities, while the post-secondary group hosted a resume and interview workshop at St. Thomas University. ACEC Indiana Inspires Next Generation of Engineers
ACEC Indiana coordinated its 12th annual classroom visits across elementary, middle, and high schools statewide. Over 190 volunteers from ACEC Indiana, INDOT, the Department of Public Works, and municipal partners visited more than 200 classrooms, reaching over 7,000 students. Volunteers shared insights into civil engineering careers, daily responsibilities, and the profession’s impact on the world.
ACEC Indiana held two special events: At the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, volunteers met with hundreds of students about civil engineering disciplines and careers, and twenty-four Girl Scouts of Central Indiana earned their STEM Journey and Take Action Badges. ACEC Ohio Chapters Engage with Columbus Zoo Leaders and Honor Engineering Innovation
Engineers from across Central Ohio gathered in Columbus for the Central Ohio Engineers Week Luncheon. The event featured a presentation by Columbus Zoo leaders Karen Schenk, Tyler Menke, and Jeremiah Holman, and offered attendees—professionals and students alike—networking opportunities and a preview of the Zoo’s updated North American Exhibit. ACEC Ohio’s Northwest Chapter gathered in Toledo during E-Week to celebrate engineering innovators. Historian Barbara Floyd delivered the keynote, sharing insights from her book The Glass City: Toledo and the Industry That Built It. Check out event photos here.
ACEC/MW Hosts Annual STEM Event
To celebrate E-Week, ACEC Metro Washington hosted its 3rd Annual STEM event at Key Middle School in Springfield, Virginia. ACEC/MW members teamed up to guide groups of five middle school students through a hands-on bridge-building activity. Check out event photos here.

ACEC Georgia Hosts ‘Girl Day’ Event
ACEC Georgia hosted a 2025 Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day on Saturday, April 19, at the Gwinnett School of Math, Science & Technology. The engineering community sponsors the program to introduce girls who are interested in STEM – upper elementary (4th-5th grades) and middle school-age (6th-8th grades) – to the field of engineering through fun projects, hands-on activities, and Q&As. The event brings together engineering professionals, college professors, and college students. Read about the event here.
ACEC Virginia Celebrates with STEM Events
ACEC Virginia marked E-Week with STEM outreach events, inspiring future engineers and introducing students to diverse career paths. Shannon Turner, PE, of Moffatt & Nichol, spoke at Norfolk State University’s STEM Roundtable, while FOXXSTEM joined the CREW DC Student Outreach Committee for a presentation at Phelps ACE High School, a DC public school focused on careers in Architecture, Construction, and Engineering.

Moffatt & Nichol engineers were celebrated during E-Week for innovation and outreach, inspiring future engineers at ChamberRVA’s Mission Tomorrow through hands-on activities. ACEC/MD Celebrates E-Week with 2025 EEA Banquet
ACEC/MD hosted its 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards Banquet at the Engineer’s Club in Baltimore, bringing together industry leaders to celebrate innovation and honor outstanding engineering achievements. A Grand Award was presented to RK&K and the Maryland Transportation Authority for the I-95 ETL Northbound Extension: MD 152 Interchange project. The event was sponsored by Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. Olsson Shares Advice to Future Engineers
Olsson employees visited dozens of elementary school classrooms across their footprint, sharing their passion for engineering with young students. During each visit, they encouraged students to think like engineers and engaged them in a fun, hands-on activity designed to spark curiosity and creativity.
The company hosted a Mystery Box Challenge, where employee teams used random supplies to solve an engineering task, competing for the traveling E-Week trophy.

Sain Associates’ Girl Day Event Inspires Students
Sain Associates has celebrated Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day since 2015, starting with a small group of 15 students. Now in its 11th year, the event—held in partnership with McWane Science Center and the Birmingham Society of Women Engineers—welcomed over 180 middle schoolers from 11 schools. More than 50 volunteers led build challenges, offered career advice, and guided students through hands-on activities, including an IMAX screening of Dream Big. Garver Stresses Importance of Closing Workforce Gap
To combat the workforce shortage, Garver celebrated E-Week across the country by recruiting elementary students for engineering careers. Engineers from Garver visited nearly 30 schools across the country to lead hands-on STEM activities. C&S Companies celebrated E-Week by putting their engineers in the “Hot Seat,” creating a fun video featuring lighthearted questions that showcased their personalities. Watch the video here.
L.I. Smith & Associates Marks E-Week with Luncheon & Field Trip
L.I. Smith & Associates celebrated E-Week with an internal staff luncheon and a hands-on “field trip” led by President Patrick Smith. The engineering team toured Paris, Tennessee, to assess drainage issues from a recent flood—an opportunity to analyze real-world challenges and explore solutions.
Company employees also attended the UT Martin College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Engineering Banquet in March, where civil engineering students presented their senior research projects. Check out firm photos here.
