Engineering Industry’s Concerns Over Proposed FHA Rule Addressed at T&I Committee

Earlier this year, the Federal Highway Administration issued a proposed rule that would waive federal regulations governing the procurement and administration of engineering and design services by local governments. ACEC has been actively addressing this issue with Congress and the US DOT. Yesterday, Secretary Buttigieg testified before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on the Biden Administration’s FY 2025 budget request. During the hearing, Congressman Bruce Westerman addressed this issue directly with the Secretary and reiterated concerns expressed by the engineering industry that the proposed rule would undermine QBS.
