The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) released the following statement in support of the passage of H.R. 5631, the Geothermal Ombudsman for National Deployment and Optimal Reviews Act, and H.R. 1687, the Committing Leases for Energy Access Now Act:

“Together, these measures address the leasing backlogs and permitting delays and will enable geothermal energy to contribute at the scale America’s grid now demands by requiring annual lease sales, expediting permits, and establishing dispute resolution services for project applicants. With U.S. electricity demand surging, driven by AI, data centers, and domestic manufacturing, geothermal power generation is a strategic national asset that should be part of the solution. ACEC also views both measures as important steps toward the broader permitting reform agenda Congress must advance.”
